My name is Jessica Johnson (don't try searching for me, there are 15 million of us), I am a 22 year old college student at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville. I will be graduating on May 12th (at 8:30 AM!) of 2011. I will have a Bachelor of Science in Communications for Advertising and a minor in Business Administration.
I am a native Knoxvillian, born and raised. I did leave Knoxville for a very short stint at East Tennessee State University, where I found out small towns are not for me. While I was attending ETSU my declared major was Finance with a concentration in Real Estate (big difference, I know). Once I returned to good ole' Knoxville I had remembered, upon my original application, I had applied to the College of Communications. So, this is where I ended up. Of course I wasn't on the Advertising track. I was originally a Public Relations major with the school. Although I was a declared pre-Public Relations major I still had to take some other intro courses. This is when I stumbled into Advertising. I was signed up to take the Intro to Advertising class, went to class, loved the teacher and the topic. So I switched and fast forward through five semesters of grueling hard work and that is where I am currently.
Through those five semesters I have obtained a working internship with a leading cable network company. I have since become a contractor for them and I hope to obtain a job after I graduate at 8:30 in the morning on May 12th.
So, by this point I am sure you are wondering why in the heck i am telling you all of this. Well, I am currently enrolled in an Advertising Social Media class (this is social media if you didn't know that already). For this social media class I have to write two entries a week (yes, there will now be more consistency to my postings) and at least one of the posts must be social media related. YAY you get to learn with me!
Alright, I am basically working from a sheet of criteria that I have to talk about, so I will continue working through the prompts and telling you ALL about my professional and educational life. (You don't need to know the personal)
For this upcoming year I will be focusing this blog on social media, as well as continuing to enchant you all with my word of the day tidbits. I want this blog to be entertaining while also being informational. If I can put a smile on your face just once while reading, then that is a good thing and I am doing what I want to. I guess you could say that my online presence is not too professional, but of course that is what my professional website is for. Instead I feel like this blog reflects my personal ideas and random thoughts. Everyone can learn from random thoughts, and these are mine. I think that this blog represents my reputation as someone who is constantly wanting to learn while continually having fun and making "smart"comments (at least I think they are smart).
Now, where do I want this blog to go?......Hmmmm......
Well, I guess it would be pretty darn sweet to sign in, check out my stats and see them through the roof! (probably not going to happen though) Instead of aiming for outrageous stats I guess I will aim for just a little recognition and interest from my future employer out there.
So, this is where my "homework" assignment ends and I guess now you know a little more about me.
Learning from experience, learning from people,
learning from successes and failures, learning from
leaders and followers: personality is formed in these reactions
to stimuli in social environments.
